Seminar conducted by Humphrey Blackburn,

Blackburn has worked with slow sand filters since the early '90s.
His early
work with SSFs was in Chiapas, Mexico as the focus of graduate work in
low-tech
methods to control water born diseases such as Cholera, Typhoid, and
parasites.
In recent years he has been the principle of
Blackburn & Associates and has lectured on slow sand filtration at
Humboldt State University and before professional groups in Thailand,
Brazil, Indonesia,
Canada and in the United States. He has written several
articles for national
and international trade publications on the subject of slow sand
filtration
and has consulted on national and international slow sand filter
projects.
In these seminars, he will share his years of experience from hundreds
of
slow sand filters in various locales.
During our 8-hour seminars, we will provide

A two day workshop:
- theory of slow sand fiktratiuon and roughing filters.

- hands on experience including collecting and washing sand
and gravel, loading the filter, start-up, harrowing, testing procedures

work
with individuals overseas to build a global network of qualified
installers.
After completing our training program, these installers would be
qualified
to work with development agencies in all aspects of installation of
slow
sand filters.
