Tsunami

Blackburn & Associates and Blue Future Filters, Inc.  produced 200 small SSF/x technology slow sand filters for use in the tsunami effected regions of Sri Lanka and Sumatra, Indonesia. These units produce 450 gpd (small units) and 1800 gpd (large units) of safe drinking water from surface water sources. Humphrey Blackburn went with representatives of relief agencies GAN and ICM and GET, Inc. to train development workers in the assembly and use of these units in Indonesia. At right and below are pictures of the effects of the tsunami witnessed on that visit.
Blackburn & Associates and Blue Future Filters will be working on reconstruction efforts in tsunami effected areas for years to come.
